I make some gaming videos for Youtube myself, and this more than fulfills my needs, regardless of whether I want to just render some footage or get some extensive editing done, with color and contrast, subtitles or other onscreen text, photo and video overlays, and some interesting film effects and transitions.

It’s no Adobe Aftereffects, but it’s definitely a fantastic video editing program for those eho just need a bit more than what the free programs can generally offer without headache or coding experience. Definitely a program you can grow with and make some awesome videos from. The only downside – the learning curve. If you’re just getting into video, sit down with an instruction manual and a couple hours to burn, and learn as many keyboard shortcuts as possible. Most of the options are hidden away in the extensive menus, and you can usually find the shortcuts next to the actions in the menus, so if you spend the time, you can find everything you need right when you open up the program.
